Mater Soap is a small-batch soap and body care brand based in Brooklyn, New York, that pays homage to the utilitarian objects that quietly serve our daily lives. Mater means "mother" in Latin, and the name honors the natural world and the mothers who shaped the founder's ideas of beauty and empowerment. Raised in Rome with a background in sculpture, textiles and natural dyes, the founder began making soap in a weaving studio in New York City.

Their handmade cold-process bar soaps and organic body products draw on traditional soap formulation and the power of plant oils and extracts, using sustainably sourced ingredients like smoky pine tar, red alkanet root powder and salty sea plants. Inspired by sculpture, architecture and textiles, Mater Soap chooses every material with intention and a conscious effort to minimize ecological impact, working toward less waste and more joy in the daily ritual of bathing and washing.
